After viewing the Freelancer’s reporting (go ahead, read it…), I remembered that Shaq wasn’t always an old and out of shape center. He used to be what Stan Van Gundy wishes Dwight Howard would be.
Seriously, Howard might have Shaq beat defensively, but offensively it isn’t even close. Shaq was just as athletic (maybe didn’t have quite the high jump) who would find the time to dribble down the length of the court after grabbing the rebound to slam it down on a bewildered opponent.
It just becomes a game of what if he had stayed committed to being in shape? There is a reason that he has 3 Finals MVPs and only one regular season MVP (besides playing against Jordan, Olajuwon, Robinson, Malone, etc.).
