Season Preview: Final Standings

I asked the rest of the Paints Dudes to predict the final standings of each division and conference. I also asked them to predict the Conference and NBA Champions. The “consensus” column is approximately the average of the other opinions, ranked by division. Immediately following are the opinions of where each team will finish in the conference. Below that are our predictions for who will advance to the NBA Finals and our predictions of who will win the championship, as well as the winners of selected year-end awards. Even though this is being posted today, all of these predictions were submitted before the first tip of the first game.

Award Predictions

For the League MVP award, the Paints Dudes are evenly divided. The Champ (AKA “No Bias”) picked LeBron James to be MVP, whereas the Custodian thinks Dwayne Wade will take home the hardware. The Freelancer (Kobe Bryant) and The Octagon (Dwight Howard) both selected players from the team they think will win in the NBA Finals.

In the scoring title category, we were evenly split, with The Champ and the Freelancer taking Dwayne Wade and The Custodian and The Octagon picking Kevin Durant.

The choice for Defensive Player of the Year was more clear-cut, with everyone but The Champ picking Dwight Howard. The Champ (AKA “I’m Not a Cavaliers Fan or Anything”) picked LeBron James.

Rookie of the Year was slightly more divided, but there was a semblance of consensus with both The Custodian and The Freelancer picking Tyreke Evans. The Champ picked Johnny Flynn and The Octagon envisions James Harden as the year-end Rookie of the Year.

So, who will be right? I guess we’ll know in eight months! Keep reading “Paints in the Point” to find out!
